???? Wild Virgin CHAPTER THIRTY NINE: ????
The following day
Nicodemus’s POV
The sun shone brightly in the sky. Its glory illuminated all over the earth. Its beauty was outstanding and great to behold.
Although the day looked bright Nicodemus was gloomy. It was his day of trial. The day he would know his long-awaited fate. He felt a feeling of confusion overtaking his mind. His sanity was at stake he was engrossed in deep thoughts.
He closed his eyes several times and held his breath like he was trying to meditate.
He could only rely on the words of the lawyer his parents had hired for him. Since his father assured him the lawyer was the best in the country he resolved within his heart to keep his head high.
He forced a smile when two police officers came to summon him to court.
Nicodemus bowed his head while walking into the court. He was surprised when he saw Laura on the seat.
“Woow she’s back.”
Nicodemus soliloquized.
The look Laura gave him made him feel a bit relieved.
His lawyer gave him a confident look and that enabled him to bold up.
After hearing from the prosecutor and the advocate’s side the judge sentenced Nicodemus to one and a half years imprisonment.
The penalty would have been brutal if not for the intervention of the advocate lawyer Nicodemus’s parents had assigned for him.
He hugged his parents before he was taken away.
“It’s going to be fine. Very soon before you know it you will be out.”
Laura assured Nicodemus.
Nicodemus smiled at her while being led by the officers into prison.
Life behind bars wasn’t going to be easy but Nicodemus had hopes he would scale through.
He was glad his parents had not brought Lillian along to the court. He knew how disappointed Lillian would be in him. He could picture the disappointed look in his mind if she found out what he did.
Nicodemus’s parents thanked the lawyer for his efforts before taking their leave. They acknowledged the fact that it was thanks to his intervention their son wouldn’t be spending a long term in jail.
Louis’s POV
Louis was happy his face glowed with happiness. He was going to leave the hospital premises and that made him extremely happy. Although he had not remembered anything tangible yet other than a few memories that convinced him about Laura’s importance in his life the doctor assured his parents that if he spend time with the ones he love and go out he would recover very fast.
When it was evening Louis’s parents came into his unit to hug him.
“Hurray, you are going back home son.”
Louis’s mother shouted.
“I am enthusiastic mom. I am tired of being here already. Where’s Lillian and Nicodemus didn’t they come along with you?”
Louis asked.
“No, they didn’t son. Nonetheless, someone special came along with us. Can you guess who the person is?”
Louis’s father asked.
“Errrm My friend Steve right?”
“Nope, bad guess.”
“Then who?”
Louis blurted out.
“Since you can’t guess. I will beep the person to signify she can come in. Just relax when you see the person.”
“Okay. I can handle this.”
Louis breathed in and out.
His father beeped Laura’s line and Laura went in. Louis’s eyes were closed as instructed by his mom.
“You can now open.”
Louis’s mother said with a smile on her face.
When Louis opened his eyes and he saw Laura in front of him he opened his mouth in shock. He shook his head and brought out the picture he kept under the pillow on the hospital bed.
“It can’t be.”
Louis muttered to himself.
Laura who understand his state went closer and held his cheek. Louis was dumbstruck when she pecked him on the cheek and whispered in his ears “baby I’m back for you.”
“Lolita.”
Louis said with his eyes closed.
“Yeah it’s me and I’m here to accompany you home. I have missed you. It’s been a while.”
Louis held Laura’s cheek in a lovable manner. He didn’t feel shy to give Laura a light kiss in front of his parents. He did it enthusiastically.
Laura stared at him and locked her lips in his. She didn’t know if it was way too early to do that but she couldn’t help her emotions. Louis couldn’t resist Laura’s juicy lips he reciprocated passionately.
When Louis’s parents saw the atmosphere getting intense they left the room for Louis and Laura to discuss. They felt they needed a serene environment to talk things over.
“I have missed you.”
Laura said amidst the kisses.
“Why did it take so long for you to come? I have long awaited your return. Dad told me you went on a business trip. I still don’t know how to feel about your absence at the time I needed you most.”
Louis said with his eyes closed.
“ It’s a long story, Louis.”
Laura responded.
“Unfortunately I can’t remember anything. Did you travel before I had the accident, Lolita?”
“Yes .”
Laura replied to him quickly. The Louis she knew had a way of knowing from her facial gesture if she was saying the truth or not.
She wasn’t certain if that part of Louis had died in the accident but it was best to remain safe.
“Even though I can’t remember much about myself I remember we met absurdly. You know the car hitting stuff and a..nnnd.”
Louis stammered with his eyes shut. He was straining his brain to know what had happened next.
“Common baby. You can’t remember everything in a day.”
Laura urged Louis to open his eyes.
“Don’t mind me. I just hate this state of helplessness.”
“Shall we?”
Laura smiled at him.
“Of cos, I am tired of being here anyways. Help me up.”
Louis requested.
“Lazy dude.”
Laura teased.
“Quit calling me lazy snow face.”
Louis said impulsively.
Laura bursted into laughter when Louis said that. She remembered Louis calling her snow face anytime she annoyed him.
She helped Louis from the bed and they were set to take their leave. Louis held Laura’s picture close to his heart.
The doctor called Louis’s parents into his office and discussed with them before they took their leave.
The way Louis’s face beamed with joy made his parents rest assured Laura was his effective recovery pill.
Truly Louis had gotten better and wasn’t aggressive anymore all thanks to the care and drugs administered to him in the hospital before Laura paid him a visit but Laura’s presence was felt.
The way their son smiled made their mind at ease. They were rest assured it wouldn’t take long before Louis recover himself.
After they arrived home Laura prepared Louis’s favorite and served him after he had taken his bath.
Louis insisted Laura eat with him and Laura accepted. They had a lengthy gist after they were through with the meal.
When Laura wanted to return home Louis gave her a frowny look. He almost asked Laura to spend the night in his room because he enjoyed her company but he had to restrain himself.
He didn’t know If Laura would be pissed off if he uttered such. He was sensitive to her reaction.
Louis’s parents thanked Laura for everything she had done and Laura replied it was nothing.
At first, Laura didn’t want Louis to see her off because she didn’t want to stress him. She had no other option than to give in when Louis insisted.
The two walked slowly along the neighborhood. Laura bid Louis her farewell when they reached the garage.
Louis chuckled when Laura told him she would send him a message online. It was with happiness Louis returned home after Laura entered a commercial bus in the garage.
He felt his emotions coming alive once again as he walked home.
