As each day passes by Laura and Louis’s love waxed stronger against all odds.
Their bond was inseparable, the two lover birds were worthy of emulation. Each time they spent together was beautifully spent.
Laura and Louis had no doubts they were made for each other.
Joy filled Laura’s heart the day she visited Louis’s family. They treated her nicely like she was their own. Laura’s namesake ( Louis’s younger sister) got along with her. The girl spent time gisting and beaming smiles at Laura.
Nicodemus wasn’t left out too, it seemed he had accepted his fate.
The coast was clear so Louis decided to shoot his shot when he and Laura had a date.

Laura jumped up for joy and Louis wore her the engagement ring. It was a blissful moment.
Laura informed her nanny and told her parents over the phone. Her parents rejoiced with her and they gave her their piece of advice.
The wedding date was fixed and Laura and Louis began preparation in earnest.
The bridal gown was purchased and Laura looked extremely beautiful in it. Louis had come to visit her the day she was trying the dress to see how it fit.
Louis who didn’t know anything had walked into Laura’s room without knocking on the door.
Laura’s nanny opened her mouth wide in shock when she saw him and told Laura to turn her back on him.

Louis chuckled and Laura’s nanny went to get him some juice.
Louis drank and requested more. Laura’s nanny smiled and went to get him more fruit juice.
After Laura was through trying on the dress she went to the parlor to see Louis.
“Darling.”
She kissed him.
Laura’s nanny clears her throat and left the lovebirds alone in the parlor.
They gisted and gisted till it was evening. Then Louis bid Laura farewell when it was 6:30 pm and left for his house.
He was blushing when he returned home like a man who had won the lottery. He thanked his stars that he had listened to his friend’s advice. Perhaps he wouldn’t have gotten the chance to have Laura all to himself if he had remained in the dark. The mere thought of spending the rest of his days waking beside such a dazzling beauty thrilled his brain. He spent so much time imagining it.
The day came
And people from far and near came to attend the event. Laura’s parents had come from Europe so they could witness the best day of their daughter’s life.
They were happy when Louis came to visit them.
Laura’s father and mom gave a good remark about Louis’s attitude and relative skills. They were glad their daughter had made the right choice.
Everything was going rosy. Laura’s colleague in the office phinna had agreed to be the Chief’s bridesmaid.
And as planned Steve was Louis’s best man.
One would have thought Louis and Laura’s joy would last longer but it was cut short by a tragedy.
Louis had an accident together with his friend and Nicodemus on the day of the wedding. Steve was driving when suddenly he loosed control of the brake.
The tire had flattened suddenly while he was driving. The accident was ghastly , Steve and Louis were badly injured.
Nicodemus was in a bad state too, but he wasn’t worse than Louis and Steve own.
The family was thrown into chaos when they heard the news. They had gotten a call from the hospital Louis, Steve, and Nicodemus had been admitted.
Later, guests started leaving the hall, while some stayed behind to sympathize with them.
They were still amid the tragedy when another terrible thing befell them.
Laura had been kidnapped on her way to Church. The gateman was shot in the head and he diyed immediately. Only God had saved phinna the kidnappers only hit her with the back of the gun. Laura’s friend ( Alexia) who had helped her out with the makeup was wasted in the car too. She was Laura’s sure plug whenever Laura had important occasions to attend. Laura had invited her cos she wanted her to witness the best day of her life.
By the time phinna regained consciousness, Laura was already gone.
Laura’s nanny shouted in pain when phinna related the news to her.
She couldn’t speak even when she was asked countless times what had happened.
When phinna couldn’t bear the continuous stares she opened up.
“On our way, the driver and Alexia were shot in their skull. I was only hit on the head with a gun. By the time I regained consciousness Laura was gone. I was helpless. To worsen things the two guys who carried out the e.v.i.l job wore a mask. I couldn’t get to see their faces.”
Phinna broke into tears.
Laura’s mother went closer and held phinna’s dress almost ripping it to pieces.
“Where’s my daughter? My only seed on earth .”
She yelled.
“I have no idea.”
Phinna shook her head.
Immediately Laura’s nanny flashed back to the day Louis had seen Laura in the wedding dress.
“Could that be the cause of all this?”
She soliloquized.
No matter how she thought about it, something wasn’t adding up. She felt like there was an enemy within.
It couldn’t have been Nicodemus cos he had an accident too. Kunle on the other hand had moved on and even sent Laura a wedding package in advance.
The only person left to suspect was phinna.
Every other person in the car had been wasted except her.
Laura’s nanny didn’t buy her cock and bull story earlier. She believed phinna had a hand in what had happened.
Her motive was what she didn’t know. She pondered if she should hold on to her imagination or await the result of the investigations.
