“Babe I think we need to have a chat,have a seat” James said after they got back home
This time round Linda was too scared to even say anything,she did just as the husband said and sat ready to listen
James removed the documents that the doctor had given them then started to paraphrase through hoping to see something different but nothing
The documents proved the words the doctor was saying was absolutely true.His wife was two months pregnant.His body felt weaker,his eyes stared at the tiled floor
He couldn’t dare stare at his wife anymore,this was a disgrace to him
“Linda!!” he shouted.His wife knew trouble was looming,it was not usual for his husband to call her by her name while shouting
“Yes my husband” Linda replied back at a low voice
“You can take a look at the results by yourself” he said throwing the document on the wooden table for her to see
Linda picked the documents then stared at the results.The results came to her like a shock too
She couldn’t recall herself sleeping with any man at all and if she was pregnant how did that even happen?
“My husband am sure there is a mistake somewhere I think we should have a test again”
“How now Linda? How? Okay no problem but I have a question,have you ever slept with another man when I was away?”
“No I haven’t,I am only loyal to one person and it is you my husband,I am a hundred percent sure that this is nothing but a mistake by the doctor”
James was so angered but decided to give the wife the benefit of doubt
“Okay If you insist,I think we should go to the chemist right away,we are going to get the pregnancy test kit”
“Thank you for trusting me babe” the wife said then she got up from the couch and they left house
The chemist wasn’t that far from their house and therefore they had to take a walk.They got there after few minutes and they bought the kit then walked back home
They got back home an hour later.James had the kit in his pocket as he didn’t trust the wife to even keep it.He was watching her closely to make sure that she doesn’t try to pull something stupid
On the other hand he was impatiently waiting for them to finally do the pregnancy test and the truth be revealed.A part of him trusted that his wife was saying the truth and that he had nothing to fear.The other part struggled to accept the truth anyway he decided to wait
The wife had gone to have a bath before she went to prepare food.
Later that night after they had their supper,James removed the kit and gave it to the wife
“It is time dear,I believe you were telling the truth”
“Okay let us do it” Linda said and walked into the bathroom then came back with a sample of her urine
She did the test while her husband stood watching everything.He was trembling and his heart was beating faster
“What if my wife is pregnant for real? What will people say” he asks himself but decides to have a little faith
When she was done she gave him the test kit.James went and kept the kit in his safe box so that no one could tamper with the results,they then went to sleep
He couldn’t sleep at all,his thoughts were on the results.He wanted to go and check to see if the results were out but decided to be more patient although he was growing impatient.Finally sleep took him at around three in the morning
He was up by six and the first thing he did was to check if the results were out.He walked directly to the safe box and removed the kit
Yes there it was,what the doctor said was true.The kit had two drawn lines and from his knowledge,that only meant that the wife was pregnant.His anger started again
“Lindaa!!” he shouted that the wife jumped out of the bed
“Yes”
“What is this? I need answers right away” he said and threw the kit on the bed.
Linda picked the kit and saw the results
