Amarachi had planned to return to her house two days after her mother returned from the hospital, but Ben seemed to have made her have a change of mind.
He prevailed upon her to stay back and help him work on setting himself free from Mandy’s web, and helping her brother sort things out, with a view of placing Mandy and Farida where they belonged.
So after Joe joined his wife and mother in their house, Amarachi decided to officially introduce Ben to her brother, and to tell him the much they have done so far.
“Hmm, that’s amazing Amarachi. Are you saying that we can see and hear what’s going on in Mandy’s house as we’re here now?” Joe asked in astonishment.
“Yes sir, and we can also see what goes on inside her car as well” Ben told Joe, making him very happy with the details he gave.
Joe told them what his private investigator had found, and how that he was looking for something to nail Mandy and her daughter for the crímes they had committed against his family.
Ben assured him that they were going to have more than enough to prosecute the mother amd daughter soon, telling him of the call Mandy had made earlier.
He switched on his laptop and began to set up the system to give them a live feed of what was going on in Mandy’s house.
The footages were munched up in a way that they could see visuals from the different parts of the house that Ben had been able to place his chips, and her car, all at once.
Joe sat between his wife and mother, while Amarachi took a seat besides Ben, as they waited to see what Mandy was up to.
They all looked like members of an organization, ready to have a zoom meeting with an important partnering organization.
On the screen, everything seemed to be normal, with Mandy talking to her daughter about something they couldn’t really hear, because she was far from the audio chip Ben placed in the sitting room.
Farida appeared to be explaining something to her, but she flared up, screàming and cûrsing.
Then, Farida brought out her phone, and began to dial a number.
Joe’s phone soon began to ring, making him look up at Ben in concern, almost like “what now?”
“From the calls she made yesterday Sir, I was able to surmise that Max is already blàckmailing her with the sèx tape he has.
“And if my guesses are anything to go by, she may be calling to ask for money.
“We know you won’t be needing to give her that money.
“Because if he is blàckmailing her, he’d still ask for more money, after this.
“And things will keep going from bad to worse. And who knows, we may not need to make any move on them.
“I can only help them from my ends here, sending each of them, what they need to have to have a fair ground for the fïght.
“Ultimately, they’ll destroy themselves and thing can now return to how it used to be around here” Ben said.
Joe nodded in agreement, but he had already missed Farida’s call.
He tried to return her call, but she was calling again.
“Hello Farida, I’m in the middle of an important meeting, and can’t talk to you now.
“Let me call you later my dear” Joe said and Farida got frantic.
“No no Joe! It’s an emergency and you have to talk to me now.
“I need money right now, and if I don’t have it, a lot can go wrong. Please call your account officer and mandate him to credit my account with a million Naira.
“This is very important and urgent my husband” Farida said, looking at her mother who was nodding in satisfaction.
“A million Naira? What do you need all that amount of money for? I gave you your weekly allowance just two days ago. What can be so money demanding that you have to get a million naira now?” Joe asked her.
“Joe, I need the money because this new car you bought for me was used as a collateral for a loan my mother took to offset some bills she incurred while I was sick, the initial time we hadn’t known that I was pregnant for you” Farida told him.
“What are you talking about Farida? When did I get you that car? And when did your mother take the loan? How could she have used a car I just bought for you as a collateral, for a loan she took, even before you came into my house?” Joe asked her
“She took the loan before we got married, but after she failed to pay up the loan, the interest on the loan began to accumulate, and the money lender insisted that she gave a collateral, and she used my car
“But what’s all questions all about for just a million Naira? Joe I’m your pregnant wife, the only one that has been able to get pregnant for you!
“Do I have to take all these questions before I am allowed to have access to my husband’s money?
“What then is the need of having a rich husband if I can’t wake up to money when I need to, or go to bed, knowing that my financial needs can be taken care if without much ado?” She screàmed in ãnger.
“It’s okay baby, calm down okay! I don’t want anything wrong happening to you or the baby, and you’re screàming too loudly, I’m beginning to worry for the welfare of that child.
“You can let the money lender have the car. I’ll buy you a new one as soon as I return. I don’t have access to my account manager now, and I have limited of money with me here” Joe told her.
Farida didn’t quite like the way the call ended, but there wasn’t much she could do or say again.
She had to agree with her mother to sell off her car, and let her get her money for whatever it was that she needed to do.
The mother and daughter continued arguing and talking, and before long, they had moved close enough to Ben’s audio chip and they could hear them from Nkem’s house.
Mandy was heard telling her daughter about someone that was blàckmailing her with some stuffs that could ruin them both, and how she had sold so many valuables because of that person.
“But who could that be? And how come the person has something incriminating enough to make you panic this way?
“For all I know, Max is the only person that has details about this mission and capable of ruining things for us if he chose to, but the max I know wouldn’t blãckmãil you, when he was still calling me,as at yesterday morning, to beg me to change my mind and return to him with our baby.
“So who is blàckmailing you? And what does the person have as the blàckmailing chip?” Farida was heard, asking her mother.
“Farida, you’re my daughter, and I know you don’t need to hear certain things for your own safety.
“You do not know this blàckmailer and the less you know about this problem, the better for you” Mandy replied and told her she was going out to make arrangements for the sales of the car.
She moved away from the house, and got into her car to make the call.
Mandy called Max to tell him about the unavailability of cash, and why he should accept the car instead.
“You think I’m stupîd? You want me to take the car and get labelled a thièf when the police comes after me?
“I’ll get you connected to a car dealer and take whatever amount he offers for the car” they heard Max say over the phone that Mandy had turned the speaker on.
Ben asked Joe to help him with a car dealer’s contact, and he soon sent a message to Max.
“Contact that car dealer. Don’t let her outsmart you. Anonymous cares” his message to Max read, and as soon as Mandy walked into the house, Joe saw her answer a call, telling the caller that she’d contact the dealer.
