SEASON 1:
Chinyere’s Storyline…
I met my husband while in the University, he was a year ahead of me. I used to know him as a top student in the Engineering Department but I never imagine that something would bring us together. My father was a very wealthy man so, you can imagine the kind of life I lived on campus, I had my own house with everything to make life comfortable, and I had a car which I drove to school.
I was a big girl but one thing I didn’t do was sell my body. I was satisfied with everything I had, having Christ was the icing on my cake even when my parent had no relationship with being a serious Christian.
I was one of the best in my department which made me popular among students and lecturers but despite my parent’s wealth and academic performance, I fear the Lord greatly, I was also humble which surprised people.
I met Donald when I was in 300l, he collided with me at the school one afternoon which made my phone crash after falling on the ground. He apologized over and over again and even went as far as wanting to repair the phone but I wouldn’t let him, he then requested my contact with the claim that he wanted to make it up to me.
Some days later, Donald called me and invited me to a harmless lunch in the name of wanting to appease me. At first, I didn’t want to go but my friend forced me, they had been on my neck to get a boyfriend since I had a slogan which was “no relationship till I am ready for marriage.” So many handsome men came my way but I gave none the chance to be in a relationship with me.
That evening, they ensured I look beautiful for lunch. I drove to the eatery Donald chose and on getting to the eatery, I met him looking handsome but then, I had no idea in my head. He apologized for crashing my phone and ordered food for me, all I did was to eat the food and that was the end of me. I practically began to lust after him, it was obvious the food was laced with a love potion. My friends thought love finally found me, they were so happy that I had left the group of single ladies.
I didn’t know what came upon me, I always wanted to be with Donald, it got to a point that I began to sleep in his house, and in less than two months, I had slept with Donald eight times. I became pregnant and my Dad forced me to get married to Donald so that he won’t be made a laughing stock by his friends.
At first, Donald refused to get married to me in the name of not being in love with me, my Dad had no reason to persuade him, after spending a week in the police cell, Donald was the one pleading to get married to me. My Dad ensured the wedding was the talk of the town, money was spent and dignitaries were invited just to make the occasion one of its kind. We received numerous gifts after the wedding, my friends couldn’t stop envying me because I was married to a very handsome man.
After the wedding, real suffering started. Donald acted like he truly cared for me in the presence of people because he doesn’t want my Dad to have him locked up but immediately after we got to our house, he became cold and heartless. First, he made me carry all our baggage into the house even though I was pregnant and then, locked me out of the room.
That was the beginning of my woes, the most annoying part was that despite Donald’s ill-treatment towards me, I was still so much in love with him. Donald went for service after his graduation and for the first two months that he spent there, he didn’t bother to call me, I was married but in the real sense, single.
My Dad, who felt Donald needs to be closer to me since I was pregnant worked his service back to Lagos, something that infuriated Donald so much but who was he to say argue with my Dad? Donald’s stay in Lagos did more harm than good to me and my unborn child as he would beat me at any slight provocation, he didn’t hesitate to send me out of the house whenever I fail to prepare his meals.
Donald would bring his side chicks into the house and will take them into our matrimonial room while I would be asked to go sleep in the guest room. The suffering was much but I was afraid to report to my Dad because Donald will be skinned alive. All I went through in Donald’s hands made my academic performance drop, I managed to graduate with a 2:2 which made my Dad unhappy. He blamed me for falling in love with a useless man and bringing much disappointment to him.
I sat in the living room one evening waiting for Donald’s arrival so that I could lock the door. In the course of waiting for him, I slept off only for me to be awakened by a heavy bang on the door. I looked at the clock and saw that it was 1 am, with my protruded stomach, I went to open the door only to be greeted by a deafening slap from Donald, he claimed I purposely locked him out of the house in a bid to get back at him.
I retaliated with a slap which further angered him, he pounced on me and beat me blue-black before pushing me away. As I landed on the floor, I lost consciousness. My maid who saw all that happened quietly alerted my gateman and together, they rushed me to the hospital where my baby was confirmed dead, they had to remove the dead fetus from my womb immediately to save my life.
When I became conscious, my eyes opened and my reasoning returned, I kept asking everyone around where I was and what I was doing in the hospital when I was meant to be in my school attending lectures and reading my books.
Donald’s Storyline…
I had no plan to date or marry Chinyere but my friends pushed me into it. I had a girl who I was in love with when my friends placed a bet on Chinyere. Six of them had asked her for a relationship and none could get her so, they promised me two hundred thousand naira if I could get to sleep with her. The amount of money which I would be given got into my head and I was ready to sleep with her at all cost. I met my Uncle who gave me a love portion which I was to add to her food and after doing that, she was the one running after me.
I slept with her and got the two hundred thousand naira which my friends promised me but I had to face her Dad when she got pregnant and was forced to marry her.
