???? My Daughter My Wife Episode Twenty Four: ????
???? CHUKS POV ????
After I noticed how close Sola and I had become, and how freely we could chat, I began to nurse the idea of asking her to be my girlfriend, but I was concerned about my friend Andy.
He had told me about their first kiss, and how he planned to woo her until she accepted him, but had to give up after she schooled him.
The reason she didnβt give him a chance was because of his marriage to Madonna, so after Madonna left, I became worried when I imagined he was going to make a move, but he didnβt.
So I asked him about his feelings for her, hoping to hear he wasnβt interested in a romantic relationship with her again, and yes, he wasnβt!
My joy knew no bounds as I drove home that night. I was whistling happily, chirping like a bird and dancing like a newly born goat kid inside my car while I drove.
I had to get a fresh shave and look my best as I prepared for work the next day, calculating my moves and lyrics for the showdown.
Andy my friend seemed very busy that day, so even during lunch break, we couldnβt hang out as always because he told me to go ahead.
I felt he was truly busy until I saw him drive off after we closed from work without even as much as saying a word to me or to Sola.
βWhat is going on with Andy? Could he be angry that I told him about how I feel for Sola?β I wondered as I sat in my car with Sola.
Sola and I were talking about general stuffs and she was laughing heartedly when we saw Andy. I was hoping heβd stop by as usual, but he drove away.
βIs he okay? Why does he seem so uptight since morning? Itβs almost as if he is troubled. Could he still be grieving for his wife that left him?β Sola asked me, looking very sad.
βI donβt think so. Andy has gone past that, Iβm just hoping whatever it is thatβs weighing him down isnβt connected to you and Iβ I told her.
βHow can that be? Oh I get it now. Oh my God! Andy is such a clown. He must be apprehensive about how Iβll react to what he said youβll tell me todayβ she giggled.
My eyes widened in astonishment to hear that Andy had given sola a hint that Iβll speak with her.
If Andy told her about my intention to ask her to be my girlfriend without telling her to run from me, that means even him Andy, has truly gotten over the feelings he had for her.
And if Sola was looking this happy as she anticipated what I was going to say, that was certainly an indication that I was going to get a ‘yes’, or so I thought.
βNow would you quit smiling and tell me word for word, what Iβve been waiting to hear for some time now?β Sola asked me sounding as excited as someone that had just won a jackpot.
I excitedly brought out the flower I had bought and handed over to her, before I began to give my love speech, telling her how I have always hoped sheβd be mine.
βWould you quit playing around and tell me what Andy asked you to tell me? Itβs okay to play everyday Chuks, but not on the day I have prepared to get kissed by the man I loveβ she told me, looking angrily at me.
βSola, I just told you how I feel about you, and you called it a joke? I poured my heart out to you, and you think Iβm playing?β I asked her, feeling very hurt.
We both stared at each other for quite a while, imagining what was going on.
I was in high spirits earlier and she too, looked very pleased about the conversation we were going to have in my car.
In my heart, I had already visualized how Iβd kiss her briefly in the car before driving to a nice place where weβd have dinner and then kiss like I see in the movies.
My heart nearly exploded in pains when Sola told me she was only that happy because she thought Andy couldnβt tell her about his feelings for her, and had asked me to do it on his behalf
That was why she said he was a cΓ²ward earlier, and that was the reason she had been so happy since she got to the office that day.
βSo you told Andy you were going to ask me to be your girlfriend and he gave you the go ahead?
βWas he planning for all three of us to go into polyandry? Because I donβt get it!β she asked me, looking totally exasperated and I had to tell her what Andy said, with tyh hopes that when she knew that he was no longer interested in her, sheβd want to give me a chance, but it made her begin to cry like a baby.
βI love Andy so much Chuks. Iβm sorry that you feel so much for me, but I only see you as a friend, and my friendship with you is purely because of Andy.
βHow can he not be interested in me, when every day I keep seeing the look he had in his eyes before he kissed me in Chicago?
βHow can he not give us a chance because of a girl that left on her own accord? A girl that loves nothing about him but his sxxual prowess and financial powers?β she asked me, crying like a baby.
I was so hurt by her confessions for Andy that I felt like crying. βHow could she love him so? If she was feeling so deeply for another person, I could wait and pray that something bad happens to that person and give me a chance to be with her.
But this was Andy my friend. βWhat sort of situation is this? If only I hadnβt told Andy about this! If only I sensed that she could be this mΓ dly in love with Andy, then I wouldnβt have tried to woo her and continued to love her from a distance
βHow am I supposed to look at the two of them tomorrow? Sola is very mΓ d with Andy for allowing me to woo her, and Andy himself isnβt looking any better himself.
βWhat kind of catastrophe is this?β I thought painfully. Then I stepped out of the car, and told her Iβll go get something so we could go after Andy.
When I returned, she was leaning on my bonnet and sobbing her heart out. It was a pitiful sight to behold.
βDΓ£mn! What clay was this Andy molded from anyways? How can the beauty we singles have been jostling for, be weeping for his love this way? How can someone who has been married twice be having so much edge over the single and eligible bachelors?β I thought as I walked closer to her.
I had seen Andy get into his office, and even while I stood outside thinking of what to do, his office lights remained on, meaning he planned to stay for some time.
βIf you want to see Andy, he is in his office. Iβve got somewhere to go nowβ I told her, trying to suppress my pain.
Sola didnβt even allow me finish what I was saying before she ran towards his office, then I had to stand by my car to suppress the pain
I stood for a long while, hoping Andy would still maintain his stance of not wanting to get involved with her again.
The imagination of her crying as she ran out of his office, and getting into my arms to be consoled filled my head.
I thought of how Iβd hold her so close in the hug, and find a way to kiss her. Maybe if she sees how well I can kiss her, she could change her mind!
Over thirty minutes later, she hadnβt come out, neither had Andy, so I decided to take a look and see what was going on.
And that was a wrong move! I peeked through Andyβs window and found them locked in each otherβs arms, kissing like their life depended on it.
How I was able to walk to my car that day was a miracle, but how I was able to drive home that night, will forever remain a mystery.
It became certain to me, I was not only going to hunt for someone to love me elsewhere, I was also going to hunt for a job too, because thereβs no way like hΓͺll, I was going to keep working in the same office with those two.
“Such is life” I cried as I stood under running water that night. I thought of all that had happened that day, and how it ended as against how I hoped it would end, and fresh tears continued to pour.
