Benita tried all she could to get Caleb to sleep with her, and get her pregnant so she could cover up her lies.

But it didn’t go as she planned, she became frustrated and started looking for other means to secure her place before Mrs Jane arrived.

“Oh God, how can I get pregnant, and this boy thinks he has sense, faking pregnancy isn’t just enough”.

“I have to get pregnant to cover up these things”. She said to herself, putting her finger in her mouth, while walking round her room.

Caleb was suddenly all over me as we sat outside in the visitor’s seats, I could have avoided him too, but I didn’t want him to get back with Benita, so I accepted him with an open mind.

We were still chit chatting when Benita’s call came in on Caleb’s phone.
Caleb didn’t want to take the calls so I did.

Caleb went upstairs to get some juice and glasses for us, I waited for him to return I didn’t see him.

Immediately it clicked to me and I ran upstairs to the living room to check.

Benita was caressing all over him and pleading with him to have sex with her.

I stood there watching them for some minutes as Caleb partially refused.

Mrs Jane kept calm and asked her doctor to present the DNA result. Doctor Laju did as instructed and it confirmed that Caleb was the owner of Benita’s unborn child.

Mrs Jane couldn’t do anything at that point, Rather she started planning on how to settle Benita and her children and get them out of the house.

But Benita strongly insisted that she needed Caleb’s care and attention throughout her pregnancy period, when she puts to birth she would leave.

Mrs Jane tried all she could, but Benita still stood firmly by her words.

Everyone relaxed and left Benita and focused on planning my wedding.

Benita was so bitter to hear that I was going to officially get married to Caleb.

But she couldn’t do anything, because Caleb wasn’t interested in her, and nobody gave her attention as well.

Two months later, we didn’t see any signs of a baby bomb from Benit, Mrs Jane covered all expenses and told Benita to go for antenatal checkups.

She kept on turning Mrs Jane down as she was concerned in the unborn child’s well-being, it became really suspicious and Mrs Jane took over forcefully.

She convinced Benita to follow her to a mall, She was overjoyed, she thought Mrs Jane had started liking and caring for her, so she could get Caleb’s attention from there.

She got dressed and jumped into the car with Mrs Jane, she drove her gently to the hospital, when Benita noticed they were arriving at a hospital instead of the mall Mrs Jane mentioned. She curiously asked.

“Mammy where are we going to? she asked.

“Benita we are heading to the hospital” Mrs Jane responded Frowning.

“Mammy I mentioned it that I am not ready for this now. I am not complaining so let me be”. Benita said angrily.

Mrs Jane stopped the car and Benita dragged and got out of the car, and almost sustained injuries.

Mrs Jane drove back to the house angry and confused.

She couldn’t understand why Benita kept running away from taking tetanus immunization for her pregnancy.

She called her doctor again to confirm if Benita was truly pregnant, Doctor Laju confirmed that she was and that it was for Caleb.

She further asked why Benita didn’t turn up for some vaccines as a pregnant woman.

Doctor Laju went mute over the phone and it became really fishy.

Mrs Jane withdrew and gave Benita her ways.

A few weeks later, Doctor Laju started looking out for Benita for her to settle him as they agreed.

Benita couldn’t make up for the payment so she went into hiding.

Doctor Laju came over to the house, pleading with Mrs Jane to forgive him.

Mrs Jane asked him why and what she should forgive him for.

He pleaded with Mrs Jane to call Benita, that he had a confession to make.

Days later, we were able to bring back Benita and Doctor Laju came over.

She was really scared to see him, she knew that she was going to be exposed, she started pleading with Mrs Jane to forgive her.

“I am so sorry mammy, I love Caleb so much and I don’t want to lose him” she said.

“I planned with Doctor Laju to forge the DNA and pregnancy test results”.

“I am not pregnant, mammy, but I wanted to be because I can’t lose Caleb. She said crying.

“Doctor Laju is this true? Mrs Jane asked surprised.

” Ahm, yes Madam Jane, and that is the reason I came, because she has not been able to meet up with the payments”. Doctor Laju said coldly.

” I am sorry Madam Jane, but I want her to clear her bills else I will arrest her. He added.

“And how much is this payment”?. Mrs Jane asked.

“Actually it was 3 million naira initially, but she was able to cover up just a million naira. Doctor Laju said.

We all stood and watched in surprise as Benita rolled on the floor pleading for forgiveness.

Caleb wanted to call the securities to throw Benita out, but Mrs Jane stopped him.

She called the police to arrest and locked her up. And she promised never to settle Doctor Laju for betraying her and her family.

**. A week later, Caleb’s Dad, Mr Austin came over to Nigeria and I was given the best treatment.

Mrs Jane continually sang my name and how I was able to fight and took over what was mine.

I renovated my parents house and changed their lives as well.

The tables and chairs were set, the canopies were fixed, my parents received us with warmth and love.

The villagers, my colleagues and friends turned up hugely for me.

The ceremony went really well, every portion of traditions were observed and carried out.

“Alas” ended in praise. We booked a hotel to pass the night and moved the next day.
