???????? My Addiction Episode Seven:
“Jesus!” Kelvin shouted as he read the details.
“No! I can’t believe it!” He screamed, as he fell to his knees.
“What is it? What happened?” I asked, his scream got me frightened.
“Guy you won’t believe this⦔
“Believe what?”
“David, you won’t believe what I’m about to show you right now.”
“What is it? Go straight to the point please and stop beating about the bush,” I was desperate to know what had caused him to shriek.
“Take a look for yourself.”
He passed his phone to me.
My jaw dropped ajar as my eyes met what was on his screen, because I almost screamed out of utter surprise.
“Geez! Guy! How come? How did you do this?”
“I will put you through, but with the way you behave I doubt you’re ready.”
“Ahh bro, why won’t I be ready? I’m ever ready. A whole four hundred thousand nairaβ¦who sent this money to you?”
“I’m also speechless right now, like I never believed that there’s this much money in this business.”
“Which business?” I asked suspiciously.
“I hope you’ve not gotten yourself into internet fraud?”
“No na, why would you say that? You know I can’t engage in such a social ill.”
“Then how come you got this much money?”
“Sit down,” he motioned.
“I’ll explain to you.”
Sleep had vanished from my eyes and my ears stood firm to listen to whatever Kelvin wanted to say. I was amazed, an alert of four hundred thousand, he wasn’t even into any business I knew of that could fetch him that amount of money.
“Look bro⦔ Kelvin began.
“You don’t have to soil your hands or kill someone or steal from others to make money. There are easy ways to earn even bigger than those doing all sorts of evil.”
“Hmm,” I listened keenly.
“The person that introduced me to this has bought a house and a car for his parents,”
“Are you serious? That means he must be making a lot of money?”
“Of course, he’s living a good life. And the ironic part is that he’s not even educated.”
“So what kind of business is this?” I asked, praying within myself that it wouldn’t be something illegal.
“Broβ¦ummβ¦have you heard of sugar mummies?”
“My goodness! Guy you have to be kidding me,” I immediately stood up, very disappointed.
“Unbelievable! So this is what you’re doing now?”
“There’s nothing there. All you need is to be handsome, whether or not you last in bed is not a problem. There are drugs that’ll boost you⦔
“Kelvin are you crazy?” I immediately cut in.
“So you’re sleeping with women your mother’s age?” I asked rhetorically.
“Calm down David, just listen to me. I’ve not even had s*x with this woman but she gave me all this money just for us to meet tomorrow. Imagine what she will do by the time I’m done with her?”
“God! How can you be comfortable saying such, guy I’m disappointed in you. Doesn’t it irritate you to even think about it?”
“Irritate kΓ¨? Those mature ones are even sweeter, you’ll be getting paid to enjoy yourself. There are ladies ready to pay a fortune to get f*cked by young agile boys like us⦔
“Kelvin just shut it! Shut up right now! What kind of trash are you spilling out of your mouth?”
“Keep playing. Soon, I’ll move out and leave you in the trenches.”
“Mtcheww.” I hissed, and lay back on the bed.
I couldn’t even assimilate what Kelvin was saying, it was getting more and more obvious that we weren’t meant to be friends. How could he comfortably engage in such?
I could hear him murmuring, “show me way, show me way but If I do you complain, if I don’t you still complain.”
I shook my head, I wasn’t in the mood for his shenanigans. I had a class the next morning and I needed enough sleep.
NEXT DAY AFTER CLASS
I went to class that day without talking to Kelvin, he told me he would be going to see someone, I knew he was talking about his new sugar mummy so I refused to respond to him.
Classes were over but I didn’t want to go home without seeing that angel. I stayed back, searching for Michelle.
I had looked thoroughly but to my chagrin, I couldn’t find even her shadow. I was yet to call her since I took her number, I would always feel my heart beat heavily whenever I felt like ringing her. No other girl had made me feel this way.
I walked out of the lecture theater feeling dispirited.
Just when I had retired to go home, I finally saw her. My heart skipped.
The angel was at it again, her beauty was radiant as ever. And I could see perfection in creation.
I quickly ran down to her and called her name softly.
“Hey Michelle!” I said.
I tried to sound and look confident, Kelvin told me that was the first key to rizzing a lady; confidence.
“Hey!” She waved at me.
“You’re that Adele’s friend.”
“Yeah,” I replied, stuffing my hands in my pocket.
“I think there’s something wrong with my eyes, I can’t take them off you,” I said with a smirk.
That was another key Kelvin taught me; always flatter them. And of course, I picked up the line from the internet.
I could see Michelle blushing.
“You’re funny,” she said giggling.
“I’m serious, your beauty makes me appreciate being able to see.”
She laughed and gave me a light slap on my side.
“You’re not serious,” she said, with smiles all over her face.
Things were going well, I felt highly pleased.
“Why haven’t you called?” She asked, biting her lower lip.
“I’m very sorry, I was still taking lessons on how to talk to an angel.”
Her teeth gleamed, and her cheeks went red. I felt like a boss, bringing my A-game to the table.
Just then I heard a voice call, “David.”
I turned back.
Lo and behold it was Adele, staring at me with disdain.
