????(Four Heirs, One Heart…)????
“Looks like you’re not as tough as you think,” Emma said mockingly. “Maybe you should think twice before laying your filthy hands on someone again.”
Then the door burst open, and all the security guards entered, pointing their guns at her.
“Oh boy,” she whispered. They all pointed their guns at her as if she were a criminal who had committed a serious crime.
“Drop the guns, there’s no serious issue here,” the older one said, and they all did as they were told.
Who the hell are these people? Emma thought as the security guards walked out of the house, not before glaring at her.
“Get the doctor,” one of the boys said.
Chris was glaring at Emma, wincing in pain. “She’s crazy,” he said, and the other two chuckled, except for the one in the corner with blonde hair.
“Why are you here?” the older one said, and Emma immediately handed him her schedule and dorm room assignment.
“She’s our roommate!” the second oldest yelled.
“There must be a mistake,” Chris said.
“All dorms are full, I guess,” the older one replied.
“Hi, I’m Nathan Miller, 24 years old, and a major in engineering in my final year,” the oldest said.
Emma smiled because at least he was kind.
But then something caught her off guard. “Did you just say Miller?” Emma whispered. “Oh my God, you guys are Jordan Miller’s sons,” her eyes widened, and the three of them nodded.
She gasped and immediately rushed to Chris. “I’m sorry,” she said with a fake smile, realizing they could literally throw her out of the school because of what she just did.
Chris, now holding his head high, cleared his throat. “I won’t,” he said.
Emma rolled her eyes.
“Do you want me to terminate your scholarship?” Chris immediately added, and Emma was quick to say, “I’ll do anything for you to forgive me,” she said, terrified of just entering her dream school and immediately being kicked out by her soon-to-be roommates.
“Wrong thing to say,” Nathan said before sitting back on the couch.
“I’ll tell you when I’ve thought of something,” Chris smirked, and Emma could finally breathe.
“I’m Alex Miller, 22 years old, and majoring in medicine, third year,” he said, and Emma’s eyes immediately widened.
“I also want to study medicine,” she said happily.
Alex smiled. She knew that he was the brain of all the Jordan Miller sons. He had already published groundbreaking research on cancer treatments that had garnered international acclaim. People admired his dedication and intelligence.
“If you need help, just come meet me.”
“Thank you so much,” she jumped happily.
“I’m Chris Miller,” Chris said proudly, and Emma almost rolled her eyes. “20 years old and majoring in art to become a writer.” Immediately, Emma burst out laughing.
“You’re lying, right?” she said, and Chris immediately glared at her, finding it offensive. “One more word and I’ll make sure you regret it,” he said, and Emma kept quiet.
He smiled, satisfied with her silence. “Also known as the school heartthrob,” he added.
“More like playboy,” Emma whispered to herself, and Nathan and Alex laughed, hearing it.
The blond guy who had been sitting far in the corner with his sketchbook finally looked up, and Emma forgot to breathe. He was the definition of handsome, not muscular like his brothers but with a delicate, ethereal beauty. He wasn’t that tall but not short either. What caught her off guard were his eyes. He had heterochromia, with one green eye and one blue eye. He was a masterpiece, yet mysterious and cold. He looked so different from his brothers, while Nathan, Alex, and Chris all had black hair and brown eyes. He had white-blond hair, almost white, with those mesmerizing eyes.
He didn’t acknowledge Emma as he walked away, going upstairs, and she stared at him until he was out of sight.
Nathan sighed. “That’s our little brother Leo. He’s nineteen and an artist in his second year. He’s a closed-off person, so try to stay away from him,” Nathan said.
“He’s a fucking bastard,” Chris shouted angrily.
“Chris!” Nathan yelled, glaring at him, but Alex looked unbothered.
With that, Chris stomped upstairs angrily. Nathan sighed. “That was weird,” Emma whispered.
“Well, I’m Emma Harper, 19, majoring in medicine,” she said happily.
“Welcome,” Alex said before walking away.
“I’ll send a maid to show you your room,” Nathan said before walking away, leaving Emma alone.
A maid came and showed her to her room, which was on the first floor, strictly telling her that the second and third floors were prohibited. Emma nodded, arranging her bags in her room, which was bigger than her entire house. Feeling exhausted, she laid on her bed, tired, with classes starting tomorrow. She dozed off, feeling happy, with Leo’s face flashing in her mind.
••••••••••
Emma was finally in front of her class; today she had resumed, and she couldn’t be happier.
She tried calling Laila, but Laila kept cutting her calls with a text saying she was busy. Emma understood, so she didn’t push.
“Did you hear the news about the Miller boys?” a girl in designer clothes said to her rich friends.
“Heard they got a girl as their roommate.”
A gasp left Emma’s mouth as she immediately pushed the door open and entered her class, not wanting to hear anything more. She didn’t want anyone to know that she was living with Jordan Miller’s sons, as that would only cause her trouble.
Immediately she entered, the once noisy classroom went silent, and they stared at her like an outcast.
“I can’t believe she isn’t the cleaner but a student.”
“Staying in the same class as a peasant is a slap on my family’s name.”
Emma immediately took a seat far away from everyone, making sure to keep her temper at bay because one wrong move could get her out.
“I wonder who the girl living with the Millers is,” another said, changing the subject.
When Emma thought she had finally gotten away from the gossip about her outside, she was met with more in her class. Where the fuck is the teacher? she thought.
“She must be lucky to have them around her,” another said, jealousy filling her eyes.
“What are you looking at, you filthy beggar?” the girl said, and the whole class burst out laughing.
Emma clenched her fists, trying to hold her anger.
Then the door burst open. She thought it was the teacher, but no, it was Chris.
Chris started to make his way towards Emma, and she tried giving him the signal not to come, but he only smirked.
“Hello, roomie!” Chris yelled for everyone to hear, and everyone gasped.
“She’s their roommate?”
“What?!”
“I feel like throwing up.”
Whispers were heard everywhere, and Emma wanted the ground to open and swallow her.
“What do you want?” she gritted her teeth, but Chris only smirked.
“Everyone, this is Emma, my girlfriend,” he said loudly, shocking everyone, including Emma.
“What the fuck are you saying?” Emma whispered.
“You said you’d do anything for me to forgive you, so be my girlfriend,” he whispered back.
“Hell no,” Emma yelled.
She grabbed her bag and books, not wanting to stay in class any longer. Her first day at her dream university was already the worst.
Then Chris pulled her back forcefully before smashing his lips on hers, and everyone in the classroom went into utter shock.
He whispered in her ear, “No one rejects me, Emma. You’re already marked as mine.” With one more kiss on her cheek, he walked out, leaving her with people who looked like they were going to devour her if she took a step.
Emma immediately felt overwhelmed and wished she could just disappear. How had things gone so wrong so quickly? Her dream university was turning into a nightmare, and she had no idea how she was going to survive it.
