I stood up as I went to open the door and to my surprise it was Stella. “Hey. Can I come in.” She asked. “Yeah.” I replied staring at her. She looked really beautiful. She came in and sat on the sofa.
“I saw you text.” She broke the silence. “Oh.” I said taking my seat but not to close to her. “How do I start up a conversation with her.” I thought. I could sense she wasn’t comfortable with the usual silence.
“What can I get for you.” I said trying to begin a conversation from there. “Hmmm… Water would be okay.” She said. I made to move when she called me back. “What happened to your face.” She asked.
I sighed. I was trying to hide my swollen face but she later saw it. I told her everything and luckily that brought us talking. Stella told me a lot about herself. She was not from a very rich family.
She works at a restaurant and she was just 20 years. She was 2 years older than me. I was just 18. I didn’t believe her at first because she has a small stature.
I told her about myself also. Later on she stood up from the chair and came back with a bowl of water and a towel. “Let me tend to your wounds, you look really hurt.” She said with concern.
I gave her a go ahead. The way she put the towel on my face,the way she tended to my swollen face made me wished for her not to stop.
I stood up to pack the plates to the kitchen. Stella had prepared dinner and we ate together. When we were done she was about to leave. I felt a wave of sadness I didn’t want her to leave. I tried making her stay but she gave reasons that she has to get home.
Since the very night I helped her I noticed I was comfortable around her. I was not all that shy around her. “Maybe I should ask her out.” I thought. But I brushed it away. I followed her to the door as I bade her Goodbye promising to call her.
