???????? December Rush Chapter Three:
“You see the type of friends you have? Just listen to the name of a normal human being.” My aunt commented.
“That is the name we gave him a long time ago when we were still kids.” I spoke.
“Why?”
“Because he was very brutal. He used to beat other children all the time. In fact, most children were afraid to cross him.”
“That is exactly what I am talking about. He doesn’t sound like a good person to me.”
“Don’t worry, aunt. The name might have survived over the years but his brutality has since evaporated. I am sure he is a good man now.”
“If you say so. Anyway, he left a phone number. He said you could use it to call him.”
I collected the number from my aunt, went into my bedroom and called him. The first call didn’t receive any answer, and so did the second, the third and the fourth. On the fifth try, I was about to stop the call when he answered. He was very happy to hear from me again. We talked briefly and promised to meet the following day at a local village palm wine joint.
The next day, around afternoon, I went to our meeting place to see him and met him arguing politics with some old village folks. I walked in smiling and greeted everyone. As soon as he saw me, he got up from his chair and embraced me. We abandoned the old men, got two chairs and sat some distance away from everyone.
“Madam, please get us two glasses of palm wine.” He called the lady who ran the place.
“So, how have you been?” I asked him.
“I have been good bro. And you, where have you been all this while.”
“Everywhere and nowhere.” I told him.
“Yeah, I am sure you left traces of yourself everywhere you went.” He laughed.
“What are you talking about?”
“How do you think I knew you were in town?” He asked.
“Completely by chance.”
“Wrong, I heard about the commotion you caused on Christmas day. I heard you caused two girls to fight. You haven’t changed, have you?” He smiled.
“Oh! That? Forget those girls. They are village champions. I have a better girl now.”
“Of course, you do. I have faith in you.”
“What is your problem now, Naked. Leave me alone.”
“Ebuka, I don’t have any problem. I am just wondering why amongst all the girls in this village, you chose to date Cominash. That Malta Guinness.”
“Why do you call her that?”
“Her size, bro. That short and fat girl is the one you chose to date.” He laughed.
“Hey! You have to watch your tongue, okay? Body shaming is something I can’t stand from anyone. That is a very despicable thing to say about a fellow human being.” I was annoyed.
“My friend, get out. Just say that you are trying to protect your babe.”
“Cominash? She is not my babe. It is all over now, but that doesn’t mean I will allow you ridicule her.”
“Alright, I have heard. I won’t talk about your girl again.” He laughed.
I was about to respond when the owner of the place came to our table, two glasses of palm wine in her hands. She put the glasses gently on our table and left. Like most of the women who owned such businesses, she was thickset and had a broad behind. As she swaggered away, Naked looked at the way she rolled it and licked his lips.
“Why do you look at her like that?” I asked.
“Boy, she got it.” He spoke tapping me on the shoulder.
“What? That woman is old enough to be your mother.” I was shocked.
“So what? I think I like her.”
“You are attracted to older women?”
“Kind of, but not everyone of them. Just ones that are as endowed as her.” He smiled.
“No doubt you gave your number to my uncle’s wife. I am sure you know who my uncle is. Back off from my uncle’s wife if you know what is good for you.”
“Hahahahaha! My friend, shut up. I don’t have eyes for your uncle’s wife.”
“Better.”
After about two hours, we left the place and promised to meet again as soon as we could. As we walked away. He removed his phone and called someone. They talked for a while and the someone who appeared to be a female, agreed that they should meet the following day. When the called dropped, I asked him who it was but he told me to mind my own business, but I insisted. So, he decided to tell me.
“Well, it’s a girl I met on my way to the village. She is very beautiful. We haven’t met since we got back. So, we plan on meeting tomorrow.” He spoke.
“Wow!! What is her name? Her name must be as beautiful as her face.” I said excitedly.
“What is your problem? What do you want to do with her name?”
“Nothing, I was just asking.”
“Well, her name is not important to you. So, forget about it.”
“Alright, if you say so, but don’t forget that it is a small town. I am just making sure that we don’t encroach in each other’s territories.
That evening, while I was alone in my bedroom, I texted Rose on WhatsApp.
“Hi Ebuka.” She replied.
“How are you, Rosy. I know it’s not three days yet. So, I am not expecting any response from you. I am just calling to greet.”
“That is alright. How have you been yourself?” She asked.
“I am good, it is just that I miss you.”
“Already?”
“Yes.”
“Alright, don’t worry. You know we still have two days to go before our next meeting. So, be patient.”
“Alright, I will and I hope by then, you will have good news for me.”
“Definitely.”
Late that night, as I laid on my bed alone, I thought of Naked. I wondered the girl he was talking about. A thought came to me that it might be Rose, but I quickly shifted that thought away. I didn’t think that would be possible.
The village was getting boring. I had broken up with Chancele and Cominash. Rose was still to get back to me with her decision. Life was getting boring. I still had two days to go before meeting her. How would I spend the coming days? After a careful thought, I decided that I would go see Cominash and make up with her temporarily. I couldn’t put all my eggs in one basket. I preferred Cominash because Chancele’s brother had warned me to stay away from her sister.
The following day, in the afternoon, I unblocked Cominash and texted her. She replied immediately. It was like she was waiting for my text.
“Wow!! Ebuka, you texted me.” She wrote.
“What is the meaning of that? Have I not been texting you?” I asked.
“You have, but I noticed that you blocked me.”
“Can you blame me for that? You brought your mother to my house to embarrass and disgrace me in front of everyone, in front of my uncle’s wife. What did you expect me to do?” I was trying to turn the table.
“I am sorry about that. I know you were very angry that day. I tried to text you later to apologize but I realized that I had been blocked. I am truly sorry for my mother’s actions. The whole thing was her idea, not mine.”
“And the fighting? Was it your mother’s idea too?” I asked, claiming to be angry.
“No, but Ebuka, you betrayed me. You cheated on me. I was so shocked when I found out that you had another girl.”
“Which other girl?”
“Chancele, of course. That stupid girl. What does she have that I don’t have, Ebuka. Tell me so that I can make up.”
“I am not dating her. I mean I was not dating her. She is the one who has been forcing herself on me.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, she has been throwing herself on me. I have never had anything to do with her.” I lied.
“Then, why was she behaving like you guys had something going?”
“It’s because she had been giving me some petty cash, that is why. You know her father is a rich cocoa farmer.”
“So, if you needed money, why didn’t you tell me. Have you ever asked me of anything, and I refused?”
“No, but I didn’t just want to bother you. You know I love you so, very much, and I didn’t want to stress my baby.”
“Awwwn!! That is so sweet of you. Please, don’t be angry with me again. You know I thought you and that foolish Chancele had something going and that was why I reacted without thinking. Please, forgive me.”
“Alright, I have forgiven you, but you need to prove to me that you are really, really sorry about your actions.” I spoke.
“Any way you want, I will prove. How do you want me to prove, just tell me and consider it done.” She was very desperate.
“Alright, I needed some money to spend because my parents haven’t sent me money yet. So, I borrowed fifty thousand from my uncle’s wife. She wants her money back. I would be happy if you can help me with the money.” I lied once again.
“Is that all?”
“Yes, that is all.”
“Alright, I will give you. How do you want it? Should I send it through MoMo?”
“No, I want it in cash. I will come to your house tonight and get it.”
“What? Do you want my parents to kill me. You cannot come to our house after all that has happened.” She was alarmed.
“Don’t worry, I am not a fool. When I say I am coming to your house, I am not saying that I am coming to walk right through the front door. I will come behind your house and hide behind your kitchen. I will then, flash you. Once you see my flash, you will come and give me the money. Is that okay by you?”
“Yes, that is a perfect plan. We see tonight, then.”
When she went offline, I smiled to myself. Look at this mumu, I thought to myself. According to her, I love her. Anyway, let her keep dreaming. Tonight, I would go and collect my cool fifty thousand. That is the money I would be spending on Rosy on New Year Day. Cominash could continue remaining dull and foolish, I didn’t care as long as she was giving me money.
That night, I went to the back of their house, flashed her and she came to meet me. After taking the money, she was about to leave when I stooped her.
“Not so fast na. Let me at least take one mop.” I spoke.
“What? Here?” She was surprised and amused.
“Yes.”
“Alright, make it fast.”
She was wearing just a miniskirt. That made things easy because there was no time for preliminaries. I simply turned her around, pulled the skirt up, shifted her pants and got in from behind. As I started pounding away, she completely forgot that we were behind their house and started moaning.
“Shhh!! You have to be silent.” I rebuked.
“I am sorry, but I can’t help it.”
We were still in the heat of it when we heard footsteps approaching where we were standing. Then a voice spoke.
“Charis, where is that your stupid sister, Cominash. I thought you said she came to the kitchen.” It was her mother.
“Yes, Mum. I saw her going behind the kitchen.” Charis replied.
“Behind the kitchen? At this time? What is she…anyway, let me go and check what she is doing there.”
I froze.
