Adrian and Jane arrived at the park, and Adrian helped her sit on a bench. “Why is it so quiet here? Are people not here?” Jane ask, because she couldn’t hear any sound from the background. Lucas has often told her about the park and how it was always crowded with families and friends.

“It’s late already Jane, that’s why it’s quiet” Adrian answered, looking at her beautiful face.

“Then why did you bring me here?” Jane asked.

“It’s because I want to spend more time with you” Adrian said, and Jane smiled.

“About what you said to your mom few minutes ago….”

“Is true, Jane” Adrian answered, cutting her short.

“But you don’t know anything about me, we just met recently…. ”

“I know that Jane, and that’s why I want to know you more, beside Lucas said you have a crush on me”

“What do you want to know about me?” Jane asked, changing the topic, and Adrian smiled, knowing what she was trying to do.

“How long have you and Lucas being friends? You both are very close” Adrian said.

“Yes we are. I was born a year after Lucas was born. His family and mine were good friends, so it was transferred to Lucas and I. We became more close when I became blind” Jane said.

“Wait. You weren’t born blind?” Adrian asked, and Jane shaked her head.

“I wasn’t. I can’t remember much because I was just three years old then, but my mom said it was an accident”

“An accident?”

“Yes. My dad also died from that accident”

“What kind of accident was that?” Adrian asked.

“According to my mom, she said I was so close to my dad, such that I will cry everytime he leaves the house. So on a faithful day, thirteen years ago, my dad decided to tag me along to the contraction building where he works. Unfortunately, it rained heavily, and the electrical devices got damaged, it was sparkling so dreadfully, and it entered into my eyes, my eyes instantly went blind. My dad while trying to come down from the roof of the building, fell down because he was in a rush to see me. I got blind, while my dad died” Jane said.

“It must have been hard for you to cope after you got blind, right?”

“Yes it was, but my best friend Lucas was always there for me. He is like a brother who I don’t joke with” Jane said and Adrian held her head, caressing it softy.

“I am sorry for reminding you about your past” He said.

“It’s fine Adrian. It feels good telling you about it” Jane said, smiling.

“Tell me more about yourself. I want to know everything about you, so that I can court you probably”

“You want to court me?” Jane asked with a smile.

“Yes Jane. I know it’s too sudden, but that’s how I feel. I want to know everything about you. I want to know about your likes and dislikes. What’s makes you sad and what made you happy, so that I’d make you happy for the rest of my life” Adrian said, still holding her hand.

“Well there’s one thing that can make me happy again”

“What is that?” He asked.

“I want to see again. I want to see what the world looks like. I want to see the sun shinning beautifully in the sky. I want to see people’s expression when they talk to me. I want to be able to see again, so I achieve my dream of owning a model/fashion industry”

“Is that your dream?” Adrian asked.

“Yes. But sadly I can’t achieve that dream because I am blind” She said, and Adrian looked at her.

“What about you?” Jane said, brightening up.

“Me?”

“Yeah, I’m sure you have dreams too. Everyone has dreams” She said, smiling.

” I do. I want to become a surgeon”

“Really? That’s Lucas dream too” Jane said, smiling.

“That nice”

“Can you come closer” She asked, cutely.

“Why?”

“Just come closer” She said, and Adrian smiled, before sitting closer to her. Jane turned her head, searching for Adrian’s face, and she smiled when her hand landed on his face.

“You have full eyebrows. Your eyes are small, and your nose is small too and a bit pointed. You have thin lips too” Jane said, caressing his face, and Adrian smiled.

“You have small head too. I wish I can see what you look like” Jane said.

“What’s your imagination about me?” Adrian asked, with a smile.

“A cute boy with bangs” Jane said, cutely.

“You are right Jane. I’m a cute boy with bangs” He said, caressing her hair.

“You are so beautiful Jane” He said softly, with his hand still on her, and Jane smiled, but her smile slowly when she remembered Debra, and she slowly took Adrian’s hand away from her head.

“What’s wrong, Jane?” He asked.

“Who is Debra? I know I shouldn’t be asking since I am not your girlfriend, but I am just curious to know about her” Jane said.

Adrian took in his lips before talking. “She’s my ex girlfriend”

“Ex girlfriend?” Jane asked.

“Yeah. Just like you and Lucas, our parents were family friends, but we fall in love along the run. I was in Hong Kong when I told her about my feelings, and she accepted to be my girlfriend. Things were going smoothly for us, we talked on video calls and texts. I genuinely love her, but just last year, she called me and said she wanted a break up. I called her several times, but she subbed me. It was really heartbroken for me, but I was able to get through it” Adrian said.

“Did you tell your mom about it?”

“Yes I did”

“So why did she announced your engagement with Debra knowing fully well that you both are no longer together?”

“My mom has always wanted Debra for me, so I know where she’s coming from”

“What are you going to do now? It seems like she wants Debra for you”

“Don’t worry about me Jane, as long as I have you I’d be fine”

“Really?” Jane asked, and Adrian smiled and hugged Jane.

“Why are you hugging me Adrian?”

“I just want you to be in my arms” He said, kissing her hair.

“Lucas is right”

“About what?” Adrian asked, caressing her back.

“I have a crush on you” She said, and Adrian smiled.

“I know”

Jane broke the hug and even if she wasn’t seeing him, her eyes were fixed on his face. “Does that mean we are together now?” She asked, and Adrian smiled, caressing her face.

“Not yet Jane. Let’s know each other better” Adrian said and hugged her again.

“You are the best thing ever happened to me, Jane” He said, and Jane smiled. Adrian saw Lucas coming and he broke the hug.

“Lucas” He called her name, and Lucas smiled when he approached them.

“Are you both done?” He asked with a cracky voice, because he has been crying.

“Lucas are you okay?” Jane asked, noticing the changes in his voice.

“I’m fine, Jane”

“Did you cry?” She asked again.

“Of course I didn’t Janet. Why will I cry?” Lucas asked, cleaning his tears.

“Adrian is he crying?” Jane asked Adrian, since he was the only one who can see Lucas. Adrian looked at Lucas, and Lucas shaked his head, signaling Adrian not to tell Jane the truth.

“Adrian, is he crying?” Jane asked, again.

“No… He is not crying. I think he has a cough that’s why he has a cracky voice” Adrian said.

“Really?”

“Adrian is right Jane. I just have a little cough”

“Are you alright? You weren’t having cough earlier” Jane said, worriedly.

“I am fine bestie, don’t worry about me”

“Are you sure?” Jane asked, again and Lucas nodded caressing her hair.

“Are you both done talking?” Lucas asked looking at Adrian.

“Yes we are” Adrian answered.

“Then we will be going home, Adrian” Lucas said, holding Jane’s hand.

“Let me take you both home. I will call one of my mom’s bodyguard, and he will bring the car over” Adrian said.

“Don’t worry Adrian. We can go home on our own”

“I insist on taking you both home. I was the one who invited you both to my party, so let me drop you both off” Adrian said, and Lucas nodded his head while Jane smiled.

The three of them arrived in Jane’s house, and they came down from the car. “Thanks for bringing me home, Adrian” Jane said, smiling.

“It’s nothing Jane” Adrian said, and Roseline came out from the house.

“What took you both so long to come home Lucas? You said you two weren’t going to waste time” Roseline said.

“Sorry about that aunty. The tutoring took time then I expected it will” Lucas said, trying to keep up with his smile, even if he was sad.

Roseline sighed and her eyes fell on Adrian. “Who is he?”

“He is my friend, Aunt” Lucas said.

“Good evening to you ma’am” Adrian greeted respectfully.

“How are you?” Roseline asked.

“I’m fine” Adrian asked.

“Are you friends with my daughter too?” Roseline asked.

“Yes I am”

“What family are you from?” Roseline asked.

“He is from the McDonald’s family” Lucas said, cutting Adrian short.

“McDonalds?”

“Yes Aunt. They’re new in Dashie” Lucas said.

“I see. It’s nice meeting you Adrian” Roseline said, with a smile.

“Thanks ma’am”

“You two should go home, it’s late already. Jane”

“Yes mom”

“Let’s go in, it’s time for your dinner”

“Alright mom. Goodnight, Lucas, Adrian” She said.

“You too, Jane” Both Lucas and Adrian watch her as she entered the house with her mom.

“Why did you lie about my family name?” Adrian asked.

“Because Aunt Roseline hate The Mcbroom’s family”

“She hates my family, Why?” Adrian asked.

“I don’t know Adrian. She gets furious anytime that family’s name is mentioned. Jane doesn’t know about it, but my mom said she hates the Mcbroom’s family because of an incident that happened in the past”

“An incident that happened in the past? What could that be?” Adrian asked.

“If I knew I’d have told you. I’m sure she’d have kicked you out of here if she knew you were the heir to the Mcbroom’s wealth”

“She hates my family” Adrian muttered.

“Yeah she does, but I don’t think it’s something that involves you, so don’t over think ok” Lucas said,

Adrian sighed and looked at Lucas. ” Why were you crying?”

“I wasn’t crying, Adrian”

“I am not blind Lucas. You had traces of tears on your face earlier. I had to lie to Jane, because you told me to. We are friends now, so you should tell me why you were crying”

“It’s just some stuff, but I am fine now. Just take care of my bestie, and keep her away from trouble”

“We’re not a couple yet”

“But it’s almost getting to that point, right? Just tell that ex-girlfriend of yours to stay away from my best friend, else I will shave her hair” Lucas said, and Adrian laughed.

“I’m dead serious Adrian. She shouldn’t go close to Jane, because I don’t joke with her”

“So you don’t have feelings for Jane?”

“If I have feelings for Jane I’d have been angry she met you. Jane is like a sister to me, whom I want to protect with everything in me, so don’t think about hurting her ok” Lucas said.

“I won’t Lucas. Thanks for trusting me”

“It’s nice having a male friend here in Dashie” Lucas said.

“Same here. Should we hang out tomorrow then? It’s my treat” Adrian said.

“Sounds like fun” Lucas said, and Adrian smiled.

≤ THE MCBROOM’S MANSION ≥

Adrian entered the house and met one of the maids about going to her room. “Good evening sir Adrian” She greeted.

“Evening. Where’s my mom?”

“She went to bed after waiting for you” She said and Adrian nodded his head.

“Are you hungry?” The maid asked.

“No I am not, go to bed” He said with a light smile, before heading upstairs.

Adrian lay on the bed after having his shower. His hand was under his head, as he thought of Jane.

I want to see again Her voice echoed in his ear, and he sat up on his bed. He took his phone and dialed someone’s number, and he picked after a few ring.

“Adriana”

“Good evening, Doctor Ben”

“Evening Adrian. It’s a surprise that you called. Are you okay over there in Hong Kong?”

“Yes, but I am back in Dashie”

“Oh really? That’s nice. I’m not in Dashie, I’d have told you to come over to my hospital, so you’d take a tour around it, like you did when you were growing up”

“When will you be back in Dashie?” Adrian asked.

“Next week. Do you want to take a tour that badly?”

“No there’s someone I want you to commerce surgery on, and I will pay you no matter how expensive it is”

“What kind of surgery?” Doctor Ben asked.

“It’s an eye surgery. A friend of mine is blind, and I want to help her so she can see again”

“If that’s the case I will come back to Dashie this weekend, so I’d know the situation of her eyes”

“Thanks so much Doctor Ben. I will be waiting for you” Adrian said and ended the call, and laid back on the bed

“Don’t worry Jane, you will be able to see again” He muttered with a smile, thinking about Jane.
